10 Things… Quick Service Resturants

TENTHINGS

“We don’t want to be stuck eating hamburgers and hot dogs all week!”

This is a conversation I have with most clients.  I get it.  Quick Service hamburgers and hot dogs get old really quick.  Thankfully, Disney has SO MANY great Quick Service Options.  I enjoy helping people choose Table Service meals, but I really love helping them choose Counter Service.  I feel like so many of them are overlooked as people head straight for the burgers and fries…. and then complain because they are sick of burgers and fries. Haha!

This post was requested by my sister.  I asked her what she wanted to read on my blog and she said ‘All the Disney food!’  Wish granted.

*Most of these pictures are not mine.  I tried to choose pictures with watermarks and if  not I added photo credits.

Kringla Bakeri og KafeScreen Shot 2017-05-14 at 2.31.20 PM

This adorable bakery is located in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot.  The sandwiches are wonderful, but I’m a little partial to the sweet pretzel with chocolate.  The school bread has quite a cult following.  It’s a sweet bread roll injected with custard topped with icing and coconut.

The sweet treats are also a great use of a snack credit.

Flame Tree Barbecue

Flame Tree Barbecue can be found in Animal Kingdom.  This was one of the first Quick Service joints to ever capture my heart.  I ate there as a teenager and have raved about it ever since.  I’m from the south, so I know good BBQ.  This is good stuff!  The beans are pretty great, too.

Yak and Yeti Quick Service

Not to be confused with the table service restaurant with the same name, this place is yummy!  The seating area is outdoor and we had ducks hanging out sharing lunch with us on our last trip.  The girls thought it was a hoot!

Yak and Yeti serves Chinese-style food.  Oddly enough- we stopped here for a mid morning snack one trip and ordered french fries.  They were some of the best fries we had ever eaten.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

This is another one of my first loves!  I ate here all the time when I was in the college program.  I loved visiting Epcot to eat fish and chips and watch the Tapestry of Nations parade.  (Man, I miss that parade!)

The fish is so light and fluffy and the fries are the perfect balance of crunchy and soft.  This is now big sister’s favorite quick service spot in all of the land!

You can find us exiting Epcot while shoving fish and chips down our throats- whether we’ve eaten a full meal previously or not.  We’ve got to have these!

This was a new one for me.  A VIP Tour Guide suggested it on our last trip.  Hollywood Studios is my least favorite ‘food park’ (especially in regards to quick service meals), so I was really glad I found this spot.  It is located right across from the Fantasmic show, so it would be a great place to grab dinner before you take a seat and wait for the best show at Disney World.  (I’m a little partial, though. #excastmember )

These fajitas were great!  I wish they offered more tortillas with the plate, but next time I will ask.

One of my friends tried the empanadas and said they were really great, too!

Sunshine Seasons is tucked away in The Land pavilion.  You can look straight across to see the entrance to Soarin’.  Up above you is my favorite ceiling on earth.  Haha!  I take pictures of it every trip.  I can’t help myself.

Back to the food…

I like this place because it offers such a variety of things.  There are five of us and if given a choice, it’s rare that everyone agrees where to eat.  Big Sister likes salad, Gregg and the little sisters like chicken and veggies and I am all about those sandwiches… oh, and the strawberry shortcake here is DIVINE!!!

My cousin, Kristin, had been trying to talk me into this place for years! I am so glad I finally gave in.

It has got to be the CUTEST quick service establishment I’ve ever seen.  It’s a Small World is middle sister’s favorite ride, so we try to snag a table with a view.  She loves watching the boats go by.

The food is Italian fare (pasta, pizza, salad).  I would say that the pizza is a cut above fast food pizza.  I very much enjoyed my lunch and felt like I was sitting in the middle of a storybook while eating it.

Be Our Guest

Oh, the people want Be Our Guest. I don’t blame them because it is a sight to be seen if there ever was one!  It looks EXACTLY like the ballroom in the movie.  Be still, my heart!

This is the hardest dinner reservation to get.  Breakfast and Lunch are Quick Service, but you can actually book a reservation 180 days in advance.  I haven’t done breakfast yet, but we have had lunch.  Ya’ll- it was just okay.  I pride myself in being an honest travel professional and that’s the truth.  It was just okay!  We are heading back to give it another chance, but if I’m totally, totally honest…  I’m just going for the view.  (And the grey stuff dessert… it’ delicious… )

Tangerine Cafe

Here is where my heart starts to flutter.  These last two are my babies!  So many wonderful memories here.  Tangerine Cafe is in the Moroccan Pavillon in Epcot.               (I love some Epcot food, obviously…)

I feel like this is such an overlooked gem.  The food is AMAZING and so refreshing.  I never feel like I am eating Quick Service when I am here.  It’s also located in one of the most beautiful pavilions in the World Showcase.

It is at this point in our food journey that I nearly break into tears… or song and dance… or something.  This place… IS.MY.FAVORITE!!!!

If you are in Epcot with me you will find yourself here.

I have been in a serious relationship with ham and cheese croissants since I could eat food.  This one is my first love.  I also tried my first cappuccino in this patisserie (well, the smaller version of this patisserie) when I was 17.  It made me feel so fancy and grown up.  😉

You can use a snack credit to get a pastry or a quick service meal credit to get a savory item, pastry and drink.  I can’t live without getting both!

I’m hungry now!

What is your favorite Quick Service meal?

  1. Have to agree with you on Be Our Guest. After all the hype, I was expecting more from our lunch. The rooms are neat, but the overall atmosphere is that of a cafeteria with limited selection. It is huge and noisy. It was OK, but that is really about it.
