Welcome to My House

Welcome, welcome!

I’m so glad you are stopping by!  Let me pour you a glass of iced tea. 😉

We built our house a year and a half ago.  This is the second build we’ve attempted as a couple.  We started off in a town home, which was Gregg’s favorite and built our first home after that.  At the time our best friends had also just built in that neighborhood and over the next few years they all left.  We started praying about what we should do (we were outgrowing the space and our life had shifted to another part of town) and when our beloved neighbors put their home on the market we decided to follow suit and build in the new neighborhood with them.  We signed the contract on our current home before there was even a ‘For Sale’ sign in our front yard and trusted God to work it all out.  He went ABOVE AND BEYOND!  The family that bought our home are now lifer friends.

Our new house is my dream home!  I love the soft, peaceful colors and the floor plan.  It’s the perfect size for us…  it’s bigger than our old home, but still has the same feel of the townhouse because of the foot print of the house.  I don’t ever want to move.

We have two living rooms.  One downstairs and one upstairs.  The downstairs living room started out a little more formal, with the intentions of us hanging out as a family upstairs, but the television upstairs broke, so…..  we usually all pile up downstairs.  We just make a big pallet in front of the couch for movie nights.

*The next two pictures are from Christmas in December last year…  we are not setting up for Christmas in July.*

I may or may not have a cookbook/cooking magazine obsession.  This buffet may or may not hide the evidence.  😉

The blue cabinet behind the girls used to be a part of our entertainment system.  We kept the outer cabinets and Gregg repurposed them with chalk paint.  At Christmas I display my village collection in them.  As for the rest of the year…  that’s still a work in progress.  I’ll get back to you when I’m done.

Our dining room table was the inspiration for this entire area.  I saw it on display at World Market when we were building and bought it.  Everything else had to revolve around it.  I still love it so much!

The ‘Be Our Guest’ decor is a nod to my Disney days when I worked at the Beauty and the Beast show. I saw it in Hobby Lobby and had to have it!

My centerpiece is a mixture of Hobby Lobby and Marshalls.  I just randomly woke up one day and had an itch to put it together, so I strolled through the aisles of both stores picking up random things, came home and threw it all together.  The lemons were actually meant for another project, but I thought it would add a fun pop of color.

Our kitchen is super boring right now!  We plan to put in a blue subway tile backsplash and decorate the top of the cabinets, but I haven’t gotten that far yet.  In the meantime, please enjoy our blue island.  It’s the heart of our home.

The mudroom was one my most recent projects.  I thought we probably needed a diferent color scheme since we were really heavy on the blue gray elsewhere, but I still wanted it to flow with the soft colors in the rest of our house.  I ended up going with black, brown and pink.  It’s one of my favorite spots in our house.

Our bedroom is still kind of blah.  It ends up as a dumping ground and I hate that!  I do love our bed.  It will be the last room I ever get to.  Mark my words!  My kids will probably be in college by the time I get it how I want it.

Welcome to the girl’s space!  They have pink bedrooms (which won’t be shown in this tour) and Gregg forbid me from doing a pink living room upstairs.  Haha!  They really enjoy their little hang out.

I spy someone hiding out in the tee pee!

So, that’s about it!  It’s always a work in progress.  I always have at least three projects going through my mind.  We are getting a Home Goods soon and it’s going to be on!!!  .
